King. Miss Brownie. Chick-Chick. These are just a few of the names bestowed on our chickens by our kids - for the kids really do love the chickens. They love to pick them up and pet them. They love to collect fresh eggs and eat them for breakfast. They love to feed them treats - dried mealworms and remnants from the gardens being most favored.
Our flock of chickens is a colorful group. We have Leghorns, which are the classic white chicken and EXCELLENT layers, who give us white eggs and Ameraucanas, sometimes called Easter Egg Chickens due to the many colors of eggs they can lay, who give us beautiful blue and green eggs. We have Rhode Island Reds, Golden Sex Links, Black Australorps, and Novogens who give us a variety of brown eggs. We also have a Buff Brahma Pullet just for fun. Google this chicken, she's got feathers on her feet! The chickens are hand tended by our family. We hand collect the eggs each day, sometimes twice a day, and package them in egg cartons for you to enjoy. Fans of our eggs have described them as an eggier egg, which makes complete sense to us. Each dozen contains a blend of the eggs, we do our best to include some of each color in every carton. |
